Service Tax on Legal services under reverse charge mechanism was imposed by Central Government w.e.f 01-07-2012. Thereby recepient of service, if its a business entity was made liable to pay service tax on the legal services received.
There is a news now that Delhi High Court in DELHI TAX BAR ASSOCIATION AND ANR Vs. UNION OF INDIA AND ORS (W.P.(c) No. 5957/2012) has stayed the implementation of service tax on legal services under reverse charge mechanism vide order dated 21.09.2012. Next date of hearing will be on 27-11-2012
